Seventh Post

This week I have been working on the song Come As You Are by Nirvana. When my small group and I go to the band room on Fridays we all try and learn one song for all of us to play together. We started out with Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, now we have moved on to Come As You Are. Over the past week I have been working on the cords and playing them with the right amount of power and at the right speed. I will continue to do the same thing for the next week as well.

Sixth Post

This week I have been working on my cords, I have been working on cords D, A, B minor, and G. I have accidentally been leaving my guitar at school and so I haven had mine to practice on much this week. But over the weekend I used a friends guitar. I have been working on a few different songs including Come As You Are by Nirvana, Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. This Friday I was not able to be in class so I will be working more during the week.

Fifth Post

Over the past week and spring break I have been working on some different songs and some different techniques. It has been hard trying to practice everyday. During spring break I was at the lake and going to baseball games, but I still fit in some practice everyday. Over the past week my older step-brother and younger step-sister have been in town for their spring break so we have been going to Atlanta and some baseball games. Again I still fit in some practice.

Fourth Update

Since last Friday I have been very busy with out of school activities so I had to leave my guitar at school over the weekend and until this Wednesday. I brought it back to my house on Thursday. The school has put a new restriction that students may not leave the classroom during a class period. So we will talk to Mr. Wine about having a certain time every Friday that we can meet in his room to play. Since we can't play the guitars in class I will have to work on finger placement and learn the cords to songs without actually playing them, them actually play the songs at home. It will be a challenge but I know i can work around it.

Third Post

Over the past week I have been working on the song "Come As You Are" by Nirvana along with the song "Seven Nation Army." I have also been talking to my mom about getting me more batteries so I can plug my guitar into the amp. I have been playing at home during my free time and playing for my family before we go to bed. Today I am going to take more pictures and keep working on different songs!

Second Update!

Over the past week I have been working on my finger placement and the strength I am using to play. I have been playing for about 30 minutes to an hour almost everyday. I have also been sending audio clips to my peers who are also working on a musical project or who already play the guitar. I have also discovered that I like a thicker guitar pick better than a skinny one, I feel like I have more power and strength when I play. I brought my guitar to school today and I am planning on working on my finger placement and the speed that I fingers from chord to chord. I have also been in touch with a family friend and he says he will help me.

First Post

In our class we are doing a 20% Time Project. It is where we spend 20% of our time, every Friday, working on something we want to know how to do or want to make. My project is going to be relearning and learning more about the guitar and how to play it. I got a guitar when i was younger and i never picked up on it, I have wanted to learn for a while and now i have the motivation to do it. So far i have been working with some friends and i have started learning the song Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. I will be posting more about my progress as the weeks go by! Project Proposal
